Apprentices shine at awards ceremony in Adelaide
Ai Group Apprentice and Trainee Centre (Ai Group ATC) apprentices were recognised as among the best in South Australia at a gala presentation dinner in Adelaide on Saturday night.
Izak Lorton, Josiah Lanthois and Robert Than were among four finalists vying for the South Australian Skills Commission Outstanding Apprentice Award at the Awards Australia’s 7NEWS Young Achiever Awards – SA.
While they didn’t come home with the top prize, reaching the finals reflects their outstanding contributions to their trades.
The young men, who were joined by their parents; host companies and Ai Group ATC Employment Training Consultants Harry McCabe, Brooke Hood and Sonya Lee; enjoyed an evening of celebration and inspiration alongside peers also making a difference to their communities and industries in South Australia.
Izak, a mechanical engineering apprentice, is hosted to ANFF-SA (the South Australian Node of the Australian National Fabrication Facility).
Electrical apprentice Josiah is hosted to Ai Group member Mayfield Industries and fellow electrical apprentice Robert is also hosted to an Ai Group member — Vector Technologies.
Fellow Ai Group ATC apprentices Megan McAloney, Ryder Fiegert and Tia Gutteridge were also nominated for the award, with Megan and Ryder making it through to the semi-finals.
They also attended, along with their host companies JCV Tooling, T&D Underground Services and Global Pumps.
Ai Group ATC Head Kristian Stratton said the presence and support of parents and host companies on the night reflected the strong partnerships that Ai Group ATC apprenticeships were built on.
“We are so proud of Izak, Josiah and Robert for reaching the finals of the Outstanding Apprentice Award,” Mr Stratton said.
“While the award went to another worthy recipient, we are thrilled to have had such strong representation from our apprentices.
“Their success is a testament to the quality of their work, the strength of their training and the support provided by our team and their host employers.
“We congratulate all our nominated apprentices for their outstanding efforts and thank our host employers for their continued investment in developing the next generation of skilled professionals.
“We are incredibly proud of everyone involved.”
