The Opportunity: Join our host employer as a Toolmaker Apprentice (fitter and turner) and kickstart your career in precision engineering. This is a hands on role where you’ll learn to manufacture and maintain press tooling, produce new components and work with both manual and NC machinery. You’ll gain experience using lathes, mills, grinders and CAD/CAM software while contributing to productivity improvements across the business.
Location: Melton, VIC
Hours: 7:00 AM – 3:06 PM, 38 hours per week
Qualification: Certificate III in Engineering – Mechanical Trade (MEM30219)
Duration: 48 months

Duties may include: - Examining and understanding detailed drawings and specifications to determine the requirements for the task
- Operate and adjust metalworking machines to create parts or tools by turning, boring, milling, shaping, slotting, grinding, or drilling metal stock or components
- Using hand and machine tools, welding equipment, and NC machines
- Cut, thread, bend, and install hydraulic and pneumatic pipes and lines
- Ensure accuracy and quality of finished parts, tools, or sub-assemblies
- Operating lathes, machining centres, sheet metal folders, and benders
- Use of Cad/Cam Packages to draw and execute programs
About You: - Must be an Australian Citizen or permanent resident with the right to work in Australia
- Completion of Year 10 High School
- Drivers Licence desirable but not essential
- Willing to undertake police check and pre employment medical if required
- Basic mechanical knowledge & basic experience in hands on work in a Manufacturing environment desirable but not essential
