Apprentice of the Month – September 2025: Isis Allen
We’re proud to announce Isis Allen as our Apprentice of the Month for September 2025!
Now in the second year of her CNC Machining apprenticeship, Isis continues to impress with her initiative, technical growth, and exceptional work ethic. Her ability to multitask without prompting—operating a Die Sink EDM machine while redressing electrodes and performing drilling operations on the Turret Mill—is a testament to her self-motivation and drive to excel.
In just six months, Isis has become highly proficient with Wire EDM machines, rarely needing assistance with programming or setup. Her rapid development has not gone unnoticed. According to her supervisor Paul Baker at QPE Engineering, who has trained apprentices for over 40 years, Isis stands out as one of the most promising individuals he’s worked with. Her natural aptitude, attention to detail, and dedication—especially in mastering manual machining—set her apart in a field that demands precision and patience.
Whilst still supervised, Isis is now trusted to work independently across the Lathe, Mill, and Grinder, placing her well ahead of the typical learning curve. She has also begun exploring CAD software and has quickly developed a strong understanding of three-dimensional design, demonstrating an impressive ability to visualise and apply complex concepts with ease.
Looking ahead, Isis will soon begin transitioning to CNC Mills and Lathes. Given her strong foundation in manual machining, her team is confident she’ll approach this next phase with the same enthusiasm and capability she’s shown so far.
Beyond her technical skills, Isis brings a consistently positive attitude to the workplace. Her punctuality, politeness, and cheerful nature contribute to the supportive and productive environment at QPE —qualities that are especially valued in the trade.
