About the role:
Our Host Employer is an Australian Leader in the packaging industry and are seeking a Full Time Fitter/Turner Apprentice to work with their Mechanical Engineering team. This is an environment that enables you to learn a wide range of skills in Mechanical Engineering, and you could elevate your training to higher levels. From automation and digital technician roles, through to managerial positions post apprenticeship.

With this apprenticeship opportunity to start in Jan 2026, you are not only learning a trade but learning about a wide range of innovative projects and engineering concepts that are at the cutting edge of technology. 

You will learn and gain skills in a wide range of metal, electronics and engineering design principles. 

Your duties include:
  • Examining and understanding detailed drawings and specifications to determine the requirements for the task
  • Operating and adjusting metalworking machines to create parts or tools by turning, boring, milling, shaping, slotting, grinding, or drilling metal stock or components
  • Using hand and machine tools, welding equipment, and CNC machines
  • Learning to cut, thread, bend, and install hydraulic and pneumatic pipes and lines
  • Ensuring accuracy and quality of finished parts, tools, or sub-assemblies
  • Operating lathes, machining centres, sheet metal folders, and benders
  • Using a wide variety of welding practices including MIG, TIG, and Stick welding
  
This role is located in Kingsford, working Monday to Friday 7.00am to 3.00pm

About you:
  • Must be an Australian Citizen or permanent resident with the right to work in Australia
  • Minimum completion of Year 11 High School
  • Driver’s License and reliable transport (no public transport available)
  • You will have an eagerness to learn new skills with a positive approach to workplace safety
