Women in STEM Apprenticeships and Traineeships (Victoria)
The Australian Industry Group is managing a project funded by Apprenticeships Victoria aimed at increasing the number of women entering apprenticeships and traineeships in STEM-related occupations.
Our focus will be on helping women into careers in three key sectors:
- Engineering trades including mechanical engineering, machining, metal fabrication and welding;
- IT occupations including help desk functions, software support and entry level cyber security and systems administrator roles; and
- Industry 4.0 technician roles working with the latest digital and networking technologies.
The project is open to all companies that operate in Victoria and to any woman interested in a career in one of our targeted industries.
We will be working with schools and other stakeholders in this field to promote the fantastic careers that can be started through apprenticeships and traineeships, and will work with interested women to help them find and prepare for vacancies.
We will also support companies during the recruitment process and provide ongoing mentoring and support for companies and their apprentices and trainees throughout the 18-month long project. For further information contact Sonya Casey at sonya.casey@aigroup.com.au
